Blackout presents ‘Black Is Not A Crime’
Overview: My Final Major Project (FMP) was a self-initiated project that combined creative design with critical analysis to explore the question: 'Are hoodies a threat or a media-made panic?' Inspired by media blackouts and real-life cases like Trayvon Martin, this project addressed police brutality against the Black community in the UK and educate the public on systemic racism, discrimination, and prejudice.
Deliverables: This project featured a social media campaign, custom hoodies, and a book titled Life Before Death: Revealing the Stories of Those that have had Their Lives Ripped from Them. The book uncovers how the UK justice system has failed the victims’ families and includes a timeline of victims of police brutality and hate crimes in the UK, from the 1980s to today.
